Attending the third #Queanbeyan community weaving session yesterday, the Regen Places Network team were profoundly moved by the intensity of emotion, and depth of connection permeating this gathering.
This was no ordinary community meeting. It was a tapestry woven with threads of hardship and hope, vulnerability and resilience. Stories unfolded, revealing the "why" behind the community's yearning for a regenerative future. A tango of hopelessness and optimism played out, igniting sparks of consciousness and prompting profound questions: Why the struggle to launch this project (Sun Villages affordable housing model)? How can we better engage the wider community?
This session transcended the typical feedback gathering exercise. It was about creating a sanctuary for authentic connection, where individuals felt safe to shed their armour and embrace vulnerability. Sun Villages, a vision four decades in the making, is poised to become more than just a development in Queanbeyan. It's about weaving a legacy of connection, sustainability, and belonging into the fabric of this community and where people feel truly seen, heard, and supported.
This powerful experience heightens our anticipation for the upcoming #StoryofPlace sessions, where we will explore the heart of this community and its vision for a regenerative future. It all begins with story, with human connection. We carry these powerful reflections and a renewed commitment to co-creating a brighter future with Queanbeyan.
